{{/presale}}Gilded coins give collectors the best of both worlds. When it comes to the Canadian Silver Maple Leaf Coins, the gilded version is just one of the many unique offerings that buyers can choose from. Right now, the 2018 Canadian Maple Leaf 1 oz Silver Coins gilded version is available for purchase from Provident Metals.
Highlights:
The Maple Leaf Coins have a few security features. The first of these security measures is the radial lines that cover the background of the coins. Additionally, there is a micro laser-engraved maple leaf privy mark with the year of issue that is visible under magnification.
Obverse
The obverse face of the 2018 Gilded Canadian Maple Leaf 1 oz Silver Coin showcases the image of Queen Elizabeth II. This portrait of Her Majesty is the fourth-generation image to be featured on Canadian coinage. Created by Susanna Blunt, this is the second time that a Canadian artist has designed an image of a monarch for Canadian coinage. This particular image was created in 2003.
Reverse
On the reverse side of each coin, you will see the famous sugar maple leaf design that is featured on all Canadian Maple Leaf Coins. However, on these coins, the leaf is covered in a thin layer of 24-karat gold. While some may believe that this gold adds value to the coins, it is such a thin sheet that it doesnt change the value of the silver coins.
History
The Royal Canadian Mints Maple Leaf coins are based on the design of Walter Otts iconic sugar maple leaf design. For hundreds of years, the sugar maple leaf has symbolized the people of Canada, so it was the perfect choice to grace Canadian coinage when the country declared its independence from Great Britain.
