Obverse
On the obverse of the 2018 Chinese Panda 30 Gram Silver Coin is the image of a Giant Panda. The species of bears is native to the central highlands of China and is known for its black-and-white fur patches. The design of the Giant Panda on the obverse of the Chinese Panda Silver Coins is changed each year with no repeat designs since the 2001-2002 coins were released with a repeat design. The exclusive 2018 design depicts a close-up image of the face of a Giant Panda clutching a set of bamboo leaves in its paw. Inscriptions on this side include only the face value of 10 and 30 g, Ag, .999.
Reverse
The reverse side of 2018 Chinese Panda 30 Gram Silver Coins includes the same design each year. Here, the Hall of Prayer for Abundant Harvests in the Temple of Heaven Complex is depicted. The inscriptions include the nation of issue written in Mandarin, with the date mark 2018 at the bottom.
History
The Chinese Panda Silver Coins debuted in 1983, but original issues of the coin up through 1988 had less than one ounce of silver most years with silver content that varied from .900 to .925 silver depending on the year. In 1989, the series leveled at 1 Troy oz of .999 pure silver. In 2016, the 1 oz silver coin transitioned to 30 Grams of .999 pure silver.
