The coins are housed individually inside of protective plastic flips or available in multiples. These options consist of a tube of 20 coins or a box of 240 coins.
Obverse
The obverse of 2018 Canadian Polar Bear 1/2 oz Silver Coins features Queen Elizabeth II. Her Majesty is depicted here in a right-profile design created in 2003 by Susanna Blunt. The image of the Queen is featured on all Canadian coinage and is the fourth-generation effigy of Elizabeth II on Canadian coins during her reign.
Reverse
On the reverse of 2018 Canadian Polar Bear 1/2 oz Silver Coins is a powerful male polar bear. This massive beast stands at the edge of an ice shelf as icy Arctic waters beckon below. The distance offers up a mountainous terrain leading down toward the waters edge. Inscriptions around it read Canada 2018, Fine Silver 1/2 oz Argent Pur. The purity of the coin is inscribed in the design field and you will find radial lines throughout the outer design field edge.
History
Polar bears are among the largest omnivorous bears in the world. The average male polar bear can tip the scales around 1,534 lbs and has physical features adapted for its life on the frozen tundra. For example, polar bears have larger padded feet that help them withstand trudging through the cold and give them greater power when swimming in Arctic waters.
