{{/presale}}If you are looking to purchase silver coins with extremely low mintage numbers, Pobjoy Mints Pegasus Series could be the perfect choice for you! Starting in 2016, the standard release in the series was capped at just 50,000 coins. However, the 5 oz version is capped even lower. You can purchase the 2018 British Virgin Islands Frosted Pegasus 5 oz Silver Coins from Provident Metals in Brilliant Uncirculated (BU) condition.
Highlights:
The British Virgin Islands commonly use horses on their coinage, so the transition to the Pegasus was a smooth one. These coins ship in protective plastic capsules straight from Provident Metals to your door.
Obverse
On the obverse of each coin is the image of Queen Elizabeth II. In this image, the Queen is shown in right-profile relief. This is the fifth design used of Queen Elizabeth II for use on British-issued coins. This image is very similar to the design created by Jody Clark for use on Royal Canadian Mint coinage; however, this design is exclusive to Pobjoy Mint.
Reverse
The reverse image on each of these coins is that of the mythical Pegasus with outstretched wings. The Pegasus stands up on its hind legs. Engravings on this side of the coin include the face value, weight, metal content, and purity of the coin.
History
Greek mythology features a flying horse called the Pegasus. This mystical creature was born of the shedding of the blood of one of the three Gorgons. In this case, it was the snake-headed monster known as Medusa after she was slain by Perseus that resulted in the creation of Pegasus. After his victory, Perseus was gifted Pegasus by the gods.
