{{/presale}}Barbados is one of the most beautiful island countries in the world. Located in the Lesser Antilles of the West Indies. The easternmost island in the Caribbean, Barbados is actually classified as an Atlantic Ocean island and not a Caribbean Sea island. In 2017, the Scottsdale Mint put Barbados on the precious metals map with a popular new Trident design. Right now, you can purchase the 2018 Barbados Trident 1 oz Gold Coin online from Provident Metals.
Highlights:
2018 Barbados Trident 1 oz Gold Coins in this listing are available to you individually. The coins arrive with a protective plastic capsule to house the specimen. Each individual coin is in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. The gold bullion coins in this series are available to you with a proof-like finish that includes combinations of frosted and mirrored elements.
Obverse
The national coat of arms for Barbados features on the obverse side of the 2018 Barbados Trident 1 oz Gold Coin. The shield is topped with a helmet and features a single-bearded fig tree in the center with the Pride of Barbados flower in the two upper corners. The shield is supported by a dolphin fish on the left and a pelican on the right. A hand rises from the helmet holding crossed sugar cane stalks. This represents both the St. Andrews Cross as a nod to the British colonial history of the island and the prominence of the sugar industry in the nations history.
Reverse
On the reverse, 2018 Barbados Trident 1 oz Gold Coins feature a large trident head in the center. The trident is a national symbol of Barbados and features prominently on the national flag. The use of the trident in national symbolism reflects the power of the sea and how it has shaped the history of the island in good and bad ways.
History
Barbados Trident Gold Coins debuted in 2017 from the Scottsdale Mint. The coins featured a wave background field on the obverse in 2017, but these 2018 releases have a new hammered finish on the background field of the obverse.
