{{/presale}}The Wedge Tail Eagle program from the Perth Mint is quickly becoming one of the most popular bullion collections. The silver bullion version of the Australian Wedge Tail Eagle is already the third best-selling silver coin at the Perth Mint, and the gold bullion version is equally impressive while offering fractional-ounce coins the silver program does not. Right now, you can buy 2018 Australian Wedge Tail Eagle 1/10 oz Gold Coins online at Provident Metals.
Highlights:
With your purchase of the 2018 Australian Wedge Tail Eagle 1/10 oz Gold Coin, you receive your coins inside of individual protective plastic capsules. Whether you purchase one coin or multiples, each coin is packaged individually inside of a flip. All of the coins available through this product listing are in Brilliant Uncirculated condition.
Obverse
Queen Elizabeth II is depicted on the obverse side of the 2018 Australian Wedge Tail Eagle 1/10 oz Gold Coin. This is the fifth-generation Australian design of the Queen created for the Royal Mint of England in 1998 by Ian Rank-Broadley. It was used on Australian denominations from 1999 to 2018, making these 2018 Australian Wedge Tail Eagle coins the last to feature this particular effigy of the Queen. She wears the Girls of Great Britain and Ireland Tiara with inscriptions of Elizabeth II, Australia, and 15 Dollars around the design element.
Reverse
A wedge tail eagle family is featured on the reverse field of the 2018 Australian Wedge Tail Eagle Gold Coins. In this design from John Mercanti, the wedge tail eagles are featured at a family nest. There is a small hatchling in the nest being tended to by a female eagle as a male eagle in the distant background flies back to the nest. Inscriptions on this side of the coin include Australian Wedge-Tailed Eagle, 2018 1/10 oz 9999 Gold, and the P mint mark of the Perth Mint.
History
The Australian Wedge Tail Eagle Series launched in 2014 with a 1 oz silver coin. Former US Mint Chief Engraver John Mercanti has designed all images featured in this series to date. Mercantis debut design in 2014 was used again in 2015. The 2016 and 2017 coins shared a design as well. The 2018 release offered the third design in the series as the gold bullion version reached its third year of availability.
