{{/presale}}On the 11th hour of the 11th day in the 11th month of 1918, the guns of World War I finally fell silent on the European continent. After four years of devastation and millions of lives lost, World War I finally came to a conclusion as the nations of the Central Powers agreed to a cease fire with the Allies. Today, you have the opportunity to add the 2018 Australian End of World War I 100th Anniversary 2 oz Silver Coin to your collection courtesy of Provident Metals.
Highlights:
World War I was originally known as the Great War in its day because it was the first truly global conflict. Though just three decades later the world would be ensnarled in another devastating conflict, World War I was initially believed to be the war to end all wars. A series of alliances between nations in Europe quickly led to an escalation following the assassination of Arch Duke Franz Ferdinand of Austria. Alliances between Austria-Hungary and Germany formed the backbone of the Central Powers, and their aggression against smaller neighbors triggered alliances between the United Kingdom and France as the continents major powers all ended up involved in the fight.
