{{/presale}}The Perth Mint is celebrating the end of its Norse Goddesses Series with the third and final release. This coin honors one of the most well-known goddesses in Norse mythology. With a unique high-relief strike and antique finish, you are sure to be snatching one of these coins for your collection. Right now, you can purchase the 2017 High Relief Tuvalu Norse Goddesses Hel 2 oz Silver Coin from Provident Metals.
Highlights:
This series from the Perth Mint was designed to honor the three primary goddesses of Norse mythology. The first release in the series was Freya, the goddess of love, fertility, and beauty. Freya was followed soon by Frigg, the goddess of love, marriage, and destiny. Hel is the final goddess in the series.
Obverse
Queen Elizabeth IIs effigy is featured on the obverse of all commonwealth coins. In this image, she is captured in right-profile relief. This particular depiction of the Queen was created in 1998 by Ian Rank-Broadley. It is the fourth-generation rendition of the Queens image since she was coronated in 1952.
Reverse
The reverse face of the coin showcases the Norse goddess Hel. She is shown in immaculate detail. The only other things on this side of the coin are the engravings of Hels name and the P mint mark designating that they were produced at the Perth Mint.
Hel is the guardian of the realm of Hel, or the underworld. She is known to receive a portion of the dead, particularly those who die during battle. She is supposedly the daughter of Loki. She was given her realm by Odin.
History
The Perth Mint was originally an offshoot of the Royal Mint in Great Britain. Surprisingly, the Perth Mint isnt the official mint of the Australian government. That title goes to the Royal Australian Mint located in western Australia.
