Obverse
On the obverse side of all 2017 Tokelau Barracuda 1 oz Silver Coins, you will see the image of Queen Elizabeth II in right-profile relief. This image was created by Ian Rank-Broadley in 1998, and it is the fourth-generation depiction of the Queen since she was coronated in 1952. Below the Queens image, you will see the motto for Tokelau, which translates to Tokelau for the Almighty.
Reverse
The image on the reverse side of each of the coins is that of a school of barracuda fish swimming through the tropical waters of the South Pacific. There are also engravings on this side of the coin including the nation of issue and the species name in both English and Tokelauan.
History
The island country of Tokelau is located in the southern Pacific Ocean. This country consists of three different tropical coral atolls, as well as Swains Island, which is part of American Samoa, and thus governed separately. The entire land area of these islands is just four square miles, and the population sits around 1,400 people.
