{{/presale}}The 2017 issue of Somalia Elephant Silver coins was just the second year of availability for a more robust Somalia Elephant Series. Several additions had been made to the coin collection in 2016, including enhanced silver purity for all coins. Today, you have the opportunity to get 2017 Somalia Elephant 1 oz Silver coins in perfect condition online at Provident Metals.
Highlights:
From 1999, when it was the Zambian Elephant Silver Coin, to 2015, the African Wildlife Series Elephant Silver Coins were available primarily in 1 oz silver. The original Somalia Elephant Silver Coins had a face value of 1,000 Shillings that was changed in 2007 to 100 Shillings. 2016 was a big year of change though. Fractional-ounce silver coins were added to the series and the silver purity of all coins in the collection was enhanced to .9999 pure silver.
Obverse
Somalias coat of arms is found on the obverse field of 2017 Somalia Elephant Silver Coins. The national crest comes with a crowned shield that bears a field of horizontal lines and a single star in the center. The shield is supported by a leopard on either side and includes fern leaves, spears, and ribbons. Inscriptions on this face of the coin include Somali Republic above the shield, the date mark of 2017 split with two digits on either side of the shield, and 100 Shillings below the shield.
Reverse
African bush elephants are always depicted on the reverse of the coins in this series and the 2017 Somalia Elephant Silver Coin boasts its own unique design. The image used on this face of the coin includes an adult bush elephant in a left-profile relief as it stands in the foreground with its trunk raised in the air. The sun rises in the background over a traditional tribal hut.
History
Somalia Elephant Silver Coins are exceptionally popular with investors. The series offers silver bullion coins each year, as well as limited-issue proof sets, gilded coins, and colorized coins. One of its most popular annual options is the Day and Night 2-Coin Set.
