Mickey and his foe Pete the Cat end up in a sword fight for the hand of Minnie, with Mickey emerging victorious.

History

Gallopin Gaucho was developed by Walt Disney and Ub Iwerks in August 1928. It was supposed to be the second film featuring Mickey Mouse following Plane Crazy and before Steamboat Willie. It was originally produced as a silent film and halted in production so Steamboat Willie could be completed with synchronized sound included. Steamboat Willie went on to become the first Mickey Mouse short with sound, followed by Gallopin Gaucho.
