{{/presale}}The 2017 Niue Jacob Wrestles the Angel Biblical Series 2 oz Silver Coin brings to life a tale from the book of Genesis, chapter 32:22-32. This offers the account of Jacob wrestling with an angel. This event has been depicted in almost countless works of art and narratives. The work featured on this coin was done by Gustave Dore in 1855. Each of the coins in this series depicts an important story or moment in the bible. Some of them are quite dark and haunting in nature, but this only serves to boost the collectability of these coins. The coins contain 2 Troy oz of .999 pure silver.
Highlights:
The Biblical Coin Series offers six designs, released annually. Each of the designs features one of the biblical artworks of Gustave Dore. The imagery is often dark in nature, but lends a much more authentic feel to these stories weve all read and heard of.
Your 2017 Niue Jacob Wrestles the Angel Biblical Series 2 oz Silver Coin featured edge-lettering, with the serial number engraved on it. The coin has an antique finish, which gives it an old-world charm reminiscent of coins that have spent countless years in circulation. The antique finish also highlights the beautiful details of this coin.
Obverse
The obverse design of the 2017 Niue Jacob Wrestles the Angel Biblical Series 2 oz Silver Coin features the third-generation effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Her Majesty has been depicted on coins in Britain and across the commonwealth since she took the throne in 1952. This portrait was featured on coins between 1984 and 1997.
Reverse
The reverse design of the 2017 Niue Jacob Wrestles the Angel Biblical Series 2 oz Silver Coin features the image of Jacob locking hands with an angel as they do battle at the edge of a river. Jacob is shown near physical exhaustion, while the angel is shown with little sign of physical distress in the battle.
