The Falkland Islands War may have lasted only 10 weeks and been overlooked in many regions of the world, but it was a hot war that involved one of the traditional powers of the last five centuries in the form of the United Kingdom. The Argentine Military Dictatorship ruling Argentina at the time suffered losses of 649 killed, 1,657 wounded, and 11,313 captured. This on top of the sinking of a cruiser and submarine among its major losses. The United Kingdom lost 2 destroyers and 2 frigates from the Royal Navy and 255 soldiers with an additional 775 wounded and 115 captured.
Obverse

History
The result of the British liberation of its island territories of the Falkland Islands was increased popularity at home in the UK for British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher and the end of the Argentine Military Dictatorship. In the aftermath, Argentina returned to democratic governance.
