{{/presale}}Many of the purest and beautiful coins in the world have been created by the Royal Canadian Mint. The mint has created the SuperLeaf to add to its spectacular line of coins. This coins design features the Maple Leaf design, which was first introduced in 2007 on the Million Dollar Maple Leaf. Currently, Provident Metals is pleased to offer the 2017 Canadian SuperLeaf 1.5 oz Silver Coin.
Highlights:
The reverse design for these coins originally appeared on the Million Dollar Maple Leaf coin, which was a stunning 100 Kilogram Gold Coin that featured .99999 pure gold content and only a $1 (CAD) face value. Only five of these coins were minted, but their beautiful Maple Leaf design captured the nations iconic symbol in an entirely new manner.
This iconic image now appears on the Canadian SuperLeaf Silver coins, which now include the Royal Canadian Mints newest security features. Both faces of the coin include radial lines to deter counterfeiters and a micro-laser engraved maple leaf privy mark that displays the year of issue 17 under magnification.
Each of these 2017 Canadian SuperLeaf 1.5 oz Silver Coins in this listing is in BU condition. This means the coin exhibits no signs of wear and tear, however, you may notice a range of minor flaws including breaks in the luster, spotted surfaces, and contact marks from the coining process. The coins are available in protective plastic flips.
Obverse
The obverse side of the 2017 Canadian SuperLeaf Silver Coin features the right-profile portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. Her Majesty has been on the obverse of all Canadian coinage since 1952, when she became the Queen of England. Canadian artist Susanna Blunt was the creator of this particular depiction in 2003.
Reverse
The reverse of each 2017 SuperLeaf 1.5 oz Silver Coin displays the Sugar Maple Leaf design, which was originally created in 2007 for the Million Dollar Maple Leaf coins. Instead of the traditional view of just one Maple Leaf, this design displays a cluster of three leaves intertwined at their stems.
History
Originally founded in 1908 in Ottawa, the Royal Canadian Mint is the official sovereign mint of Canada. The mint operated in the one lone facility in Ottawa until the 1980s when a second facility opened in Winnipeg to boost production capacity.
