The Royal Mints British Queens Beast coin series is a popular new series. The series features coins in both silver and gold. The series is slated for ten coins to celebrate the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II in 1953 and the monarchys history. Today, you can buy 2017 British Queens Beast Griffin 1/4 oz Gold Coins at Provident Metals in BU condition.

Highlights:

  • Arrives in a protective flip, mint tubes of 25, or Monster Boxes of 500 coins!
  • 2ndrelease in the Queens Beast Collection!
  • Contains Troy oz of .9999 pure gold in BU condition.
  • Issued a face value of 25 (GBP) by the United Kingdom.
  • Obverse features the effigy of Queen Elizabeth II.
  • Reverse includes the Griffin of Edward III.
  • Designs by Jody Clark.

The beasts featured in this series are the same ones that were captured in statue form at Queen Elizabeths coronation in 1953. The designs are based on the original sculptures that were made by James Woodford RA.

Obverse

The obverse features the image of Queen Elizabeth II. This image was designed in 2015 by Jody Clark. Her effigy is on the obverse of all British coinage, but this is the first update to the image since 1998. This design made Jody Clark the youngest Royal Mint engraver to ever design the Queens effigy. Clark is also the designer of all ten reverse designs in the Queens Beast series.

Reverse

On the reverse side of the coins, you will see Clarks rendition of the mythical Griffin, which is part lion and part eagle. Legend says that the griffin was the most powerful animal in the world, possessing traits of both the King of Beasts and the King of Birds at once. The griffin was associated with King Edward III, a 50-year ruler in Britain.

History

These coins are minted by the Royal Mint of England to honor the royal family. All coins minted in as British coinage bear the image of the current monarch. Today, all coins have the image of Queen Elizabeth II on the obverse.
