Highlights:
The Royal Canadian Mints Year of the Rooster coin was designed by Arise Cheung. The image is the same on both the gold and the silver coins in the series. Those born under the sign of the rooster are said to be astute, organized, and decisive, just like roosters. People born in these years are said to be great for positions in the public eye due to their nature as performers. They are also witty and self-assured.
Obverse
On the obverse of all Canadian Lunar coins is the image of Queen Elizabeth II. She is seen in right-profile relief. This image is the fourth-generation image that was created in 2003 by Susanna Blunt. This image is featured on all Canadian currency.
Reverse
The reverse image showcases Cheungs rooster design. In the image, a large rooster stands on one leg with its beak open. You will also notice a stylized image of a setting sun in front of a river.
History
The Royal Canadian Mint was founded in 1908 as the official sovereign mint of Canada. This mint is responsible for producing Canadian currency, and due to high volumes of coinage, the mint expanded in 1980 to add a second facility in Winnipeg.
