{{/presale}}On an annual basis, the United States Mint produces a range of different silver medals for collectors and investors. These silver medals typically mirror the beauty of coins such as the American Eagle and America the Beautiful Silver coins, but lack a face value and legal tender status. One recent example was the 2016 Proof American Liberty Medal. Right now, you can purchase a 2016-W Proof American Liberty 1 oz Silver Medal online from Provident Metals.
Highlights:
Provident Metals offers the 2016-W Proof American Liberty 1 oz Silver Medal to you for purchase today with its original United States Mint packaging. Each one of the silver medals is encapsulated in protective plastic capsules and housed in its own flip-top US Mint presentation display. The medal, capsule, and display are packaged together inside of a US Mint shipper and come with a Certificate of Authenticity as well.
Obverse
On the obverse of the 2016-W Proof American Liberty 1 oz Silver Medal, you will find an image of Lady Liberty. This depiction of a younger Lady Liberty showcases a female personification with a crown wreath on her head, a large, lit torch in her right hand, and an American flag on a small flagpole in her left hand. The design was created by Justin Kunz and sculpted by Phebe Hemphill. The design field includes inscriptions of Liberty and 2016. Other markings include the initials of the designer and sculptor, with JK near Libertys figure and PH in the bottom stripe of the flag.
Reverse
The reverse side of 2016-W Proof American Liberty 1 oz Silver Medals includes the depiction of an American bald eagle in flight. Here, the bald eagle is shown with its wings flexed out wide as it glides through the air while its talons are tucked up under its figure while it clutches an olive branch. This design was created by Paul C. Balan and sculpted by Don Everhart. Inscriptions on this face of the medal include United States of America and the W mint mark of the West Point Mint. Again, the designer and sculptor initials are present as PCB and DE.
History
The designs found on the 2016-W Proof American Liberty 1 oz Silver Medal come from the 2015 release of the $100 American Liberty Gold Coin. This iconic strike featured 24-karat gold content. These beautiful silver medals are struck on the exact same .999 pure silver blanks the US Mint uses for the American Eagle Silver Coin. There is, however, no face value assigned to these medals.
