History
The attack on Pearl Harbor and the United States Navy started just before 8 a.m. Horrible losses were sustained by the U.S. Navy that day because of Imperial Japan; however, many of the U.S. Navys aircraft carriers were not present at the time of the attack and, therefore, saved. This would allow the United States Navy to strike back at Japan later on.
Obverse
The portrait of the Late Queen Elizabeth II is shown on the obverse of the 2016 Tuvalu Pearl Harbor 1 oz Gold Coin. This image was originally designed by Ian Rank-Broadley and appears as the featured obverse design on bullion products manufactured by mints around the world. Certain specs of this coin are also included on the obverse, namely its release year, purity, value, weight, and origin country.
Reverse
Two Japanese aircraft are shown flying over Pearl Harbor on the reverse of the 2016 Tuvalu Pearl Harbor 1 oz Gold Coin. The sea in the background shows battleships scattered across the waters. There are also two inscriptions on this side of the coin: PEARL HARBOR MCMXLI and 75TH ANNIVERSARY.
