{{/presale}}The Silver Maple Leaf from the Royal Canadian Mint is one of the most prominent coins in the industry. Debuting in 1988, these coins always feature the same design, but there are simple changes that the Royal Canadian Mint makes for special occasions or coin collections. Right now, you can purchase the 2016 Reverse Proof Canadian Maple Leaf Yin Yang Privy 1 oz Silver Coin from Provident Metals.
Highlights:
One of the most popular symbols of Chinese culture is the yin yang, which depicted two contradictory forces in a complementary nature. The symbol features a black swirl with a white dot and a white swirl with a black dot. The symbol originated in Taoism-Daoism, and it speaks to the duality found in Chinese belief systems.
Obverse
Queen Elizabeth II is featured on the obverse of these coins. She is shown in right-profile release in this rendition from Susanna Blunt. This image was implemented on coinage in 2003, and it is the fourth-generation image of the Queen to be used on Canadian coins.
Reverse
The reverse of each 2016 Reverse Proof Canadian Maple Leaf Yin Yang Privy 1 oz Silver Coin showcases the sugar maple leaf design. This design was created in 1979 by Walter Ott to be used on the Gold Maple Leaf coins. To honor the yin yang symbol, a small privy mark has been placed on this side of the coin.
History
The Royal Canadian Mint was originally founded as an offshoot of the Royal Mint in England. The original branch was opened in Ottawa, and it wasnt until 1931 that the Canadian government took over ownership of the mint. In the late 1970s, the mint opened a second facility in Winnipeg.
