{{/presale}}With the popularity of lunar calendar coins, it is no surprise that the Royal Canadian Mint took notice. To incorporate a lunar theme into an already existing coin series was an incredibly bold choice, but collectors and investors have flocked to these coins. Right now, you can purchase the 2016 Reverse Proof Canadian Maple Leaf Lunar Monkey Privy 1 oz Silver Coin in near-perfect condition from Provident Metals.
Highlights:
Each of the coins in this listing is in near-perfect condition with a proof grade of PF69. Coins with this grade will have their full, original mint luster. A maximum of two minor detracting flaws is allowed on the coins.
Early release coins must arrive at the NGC depository or another NGC-approved facility within the first 30 days after their original release date to receive this designation.
These coins come with the popular reverse proof finish. These coins mirror regular proof coins, meaning that the background fields are deeply mirrored, while the design elements are frosted. It is exactly the opposite of regular proof coins.
Obverse
On the obverse face, you will see the familiar image of Queen Elizabeth II in right-profile relief as designed in 2003 by Susanna Blunt. Blunt, a Canadian artist, had the honor of creating this third-generation image of the Queen to appear on Canadian coinage.
Reverse
The reverse face features the same sugar maple leaf design that numismatists know and love with a slight change. On the lower left side of the design, you will notice a small monkey privy mark meant to celebrate the Year of the Monkey on the lunar calendar.
History
The Royal Canadian Mint opened its doors in 1908 in Ottawa. In the 1980s, the minting facility had to open a second location in Winnipeg to meet the demand for coins.
