{{/presale}}Christian imagery has been featured on coinage in the past, but the Scottsdale Mints Biblical Silver Coin Series is popular due to the new interpretations of the Christian bible that they employ on the coins. With the fifth release of the 2016 batch of coins, Scottsdale Mint designed the 2016 Ezekiels Vision of the Valley of Dry Bones Biblical Series 2 oz Silver Coin. This coin is now available for purchase from Provident Metals.
Highlights:
The biblical imagery featured on these coins comes from chapter 37 in the Book of Ezekiel. In the story, prophet Ezekiel conveys a dream-like realistic depiction of himself standing in a valley surrounded by dry human bones. As he walks through the valley, the bones start to connect to form human figures, and they start to become covered in tendon, tissue, muscle, and skin. God then reveals that they are the bones of the People of Israel in exile. God commands Ezekiel to revitalize the figures and resurrect the people to deliver them to the Land of Israel.
Obverse
The obverse of each coin showcases the right-profile portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. This image was created by Jerusalem-born Raphael Maklouf in 1984. It is the third-generation image of Her Majesty on commonwealth coinage. This image was used on coins from 1984 to 1997.
Reverse
On the reverse side of the coin, you will see the Valley of Dry Bone from the story of Ezekiels vision from God of the area as designed by Gustave Dore. His illustrations of the Bible were completed in 1866, and they are some of his greatest works.
