{{/presale}}Canadian Maple Leaf Silver Coins are up among the American Eagle and other major silver bullion collections as the best-selling silver specimens in the world. While the Canadian Maple Leaf Silver Coin is largely issued as a Brilliant Uncirculated specimen for investors, there are colorized and gilded versions that attract a different kind of buyer. Right now, you can get 2016 Canadian Maple Leaf 1 oz Silver Coins with a gilded finish online at Provident Metals.
Highlights:
Your 2016 Canadian Maple Leaf 1 oz Silver Coin is available through this Provident Metals listing in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. The coins are individually packaged in plastic capsules and feature a brilliant finishing layer on the reverse. This layer of 24-karat gold is known as a gilded layer and is applied only to the sugar maple leaf to create visual contrast between the leaf and its brilliant silver background.
Obverse
Queen Elizabeth II is found on the obverse of the 2016 Canadian Maple Leaf 1 oz Silver Coin. Her Majesty is depicted here in right-profile relief in a bust developed in 2003 by Susanna Blunt, just the second Canadian artist ever to create a monarch portrait for Canadian coinage. The design shows the Queen in right-profile relief with no crown on her head, a first during the reign of Elizabeth II.
Reverse
The sugar maple leaf features on the reverse side of 2016 Canadian Maple Leaf Silver Coins. This face of the coin shows the 1979 design of the sugar maple leaf from Walter Ott and it includes inscriptions of Canada, 9999, Fine Silver 1 oz Argent Pur, and a micro-engraved maple leaf privy mark. Inside of this privy mark you will notice the final two digits of the date 16 under magnification only. The background field on both sides of the coin has radial lines as a security feature of the physical design of the coins.
History
With no Proof Canadian Maple Leaf Silver Coin offered on a regular basis, authorized third-party dealers will take segments of their allotment of BU Canadian Maple Leaf Silver Coins and apply either gilded gold layers or colorized lacquers to create unique visuals that might attract collectors to this series.
