{{/presale}}The Perth Mint’s annual series of gold Kangaroo coins is a consistent favorite with collectors and investors around the world. Featuring a sequence of one-year-only designs that show Australia’s most iconic marsupial in a wide range of postures and settings, these coins can be an affordable way to start a collection or purchase a memorable gift for a friend or loved one. That’s particularly true of the half-gram “Mini Roo” coin, which made its first appearance in 2010. Coins in the series feature the original-mint luster of a Brilliant Uncirculated finish thanks to being struck twice with hand-finished and polished dies and are struck in 99.99% pure gold. The team at Provident Metals is delighted to make the 2016 1/2 Gram Australian Gold Mini Roo Coin available to you.
Highlights:
The 2016 Australian Mini Roo Gold Coin comes in a protective acrylic capsule, packaged in a stylish presentation card that confirms key details about this collectible such as its serial number, weight, and purity. Each shipment is tracked and fully insured by Provident Metals against even the most remote possibility of loss or damage en route.
Obverse
Ian Rank-Broadley’s famous effigy of the late monarch Queen Elizabeth II appears on the coin’s obverse side, confirming its status as Australian legal tender. This is accompanied by the inscriptions “QUEEN ELIZABETH II,” “AUSTRALIA 2016,” and “2 DOLLARS.”
Reverse
Standing up to survey its environment, a kangaroo appears on the coin’s reverse field. It’s accompanied by the Pert Mint’s “P” mint mark and the lettering “0.5 GRAM 9999 GOLD.”
History
Since at least the 1850s, the kangaroo has been the most thoroughly iconic species of Australian wildlife, portrayed on a vast range of the country’s coins and sundry tokens, medallions, and other collectibles. The Perth Mint set out to pay tribute to that long legacy with its annual series of gold coins devoted to the kangaroo, which saw its first issue in 1989. The coins are struck in weight from a kilogram all the way down to the half-gram “Mini Roo,” which made its debut in 2010. “Mini Roo” coins are the items from this series that are most commonly identified as near-perfect “entry-level” coins for the budding collector or investor.
