{{/presale}}With a reputation for producing quality silver products, the Royal Canadian Mint continues to release beautifully designed pieces that collectors enjoy seeking out. The 2016 Canadian Bison Coin 1.25 oz Silver Coin features the image of a large bison galloping across the Canadian plains. The bison have long dominated North America and Canada, roaming serenely across the plains. This coin contains 1.25 Troy oz of .9999 pure silver. The coin has a face value of $8 and is legal tender in Canada. The coin has a near-perfect MS (mint state) grade and is certified by the Professional Coin Grading Service (PCGS).
Highlights
The bison roam across prairies and plains in herds, thundering hooves making the ground shake when they storm past. The bison were overhunted close to the point of extinction in the 1800s, partially as the result of the U.S. governments belief that limiting a primary food source of indigenous people would reduce their reach and ability to fight back.
While they are distant relations to the domestic cow, bison are not as mild-mannered and docile. Attempts to domesticate them have largely proven unsuccessful.
Obverse
The obverse design of the 2016 Canadian Bison 1.25 oz Silver Coin features the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. This right-profile portrait differs from many others as it shows Her Majestys shoulders and her signature pearl necklace. Elizabeth II is engraved above Her Majestys head and 8 Dollars is engraved beneath her.
Reverse
The reverse design of the 2016 Canadian Bison 1.25 oz Silver Coin features the majestic bison, charging through the Canadian prairie. The artist took care to bring great detail to the depicted bison, even bring texture and depth to the bisons fur. As the bison thunders across the plains, with wide-open space and mountains in the background, one could almost hear the thundering of his hooves.
Each of the 2016 Canadian Bison Coins is guaranteed to have a near-perfect grade of Mint State (MS) and guaranteed to be a genuine First Strike edition piece; this is certified by the Professional Coin Grading Service (PCGS).
