Provident Metals is delighted to offer the 2016 1 oz Mexican Silver Libertad from its extensive selection of bullion products. The National Mint of Mexico makes Silver Libertads from one troy ounce of .999 fine silver. Like other sovereign coins, Libertads have a legal tender value, are collectible, and are reliable investments because they are backed by a sovereign government.

The National Mint of Mexico was established in 1535 in Spain, and is the oldest mint in North and South America. Because the National Mint of Mexico is an ISO9001 approved mint, and produces Libertads with strict production quality and metal purity standards, Mexican Silver Libertads may be included in self directed Precious Metals IRAs.

Mexican Silver Libertads were issued first in 1982. The initial design came from the Centenario gold coin, which commemorates Mexico’s independence from Spain and was produced from 1921 through 1947. The first Libertad featured Winged Victoria (or Victory), the Mexican Angel of Independence, holding a laurel wreath and a broken chain.

Like its predecessors, the reverse of the 2016 Silver Libertad features Winged Victory. The Victory Angel stands between two volcanoes, named Popocatepeti and Iztaccihuati for two lovers from pre-Columbian lore. “2 ONZA,” “PLATA PURA,” “2016” and “LEY .999” are inscribed around the rim of the reverse.

The obverse of the Silver Libertad features Mexico’s national seal. The seal includes an eagle standing atop a cactus carrying a snake in its beak. Ten designs representing Mexico’s 10 provinces surround the seal. “ESTDOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS” is inscribed around the central image.

The 2016 line of Silver Mexican Libertads is a beautiful addition to Provident Metals’ selection of foreign silver bullion. Like Chinese Silver Pandas and American Silver Eagles, the Silver Libertads are available in a variety of sizes. All Silver Libertads will ship in the condition that they are received from the mint. Individual coins will ship in plastic flips, and quantities of 20 ship in cardboard tubes.

The 2016 2 oz Mexican Silver Libertad is an inexpensive, yet extremely valuable addition to your silver bullion collection. Make your move at Provident Metals in a few short clicks online, or by calling our team today.
