Obverse
The obverse design of the 2015-W Mamie Eisenhower 1/2 oz Gold Coin beautifully portrays the former First Lady, capturing her grace and charm. Born on November 14, 1896, in Boone, Iowa, Mamie Geneva Doud Eisenhower grew up in a loving and nurturing family environment as the second of four daughters. The inscriptions include MAMIE EISENHOWER, IN GOD WE TRUST, LIBERTY, 34TH, 1953-1961, 2015, and the W mint mark.
Reverse
On the reverse of the 2015-W First Spouse Mamie Eisenhower Gold Coin, you’ll find a hand holding a campaign button with the words “I LIKE MAMIE.” This delightful design pays tribute to Mamie’s active support during her husband’s campaigns and playfully references the famous “I LIKE IKE” buttons used during President Eisenhower’s White House runs. Inscriptions read UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, E PLURIBUS UNUM, $10, 1/2 OZ., .9999 FINE GOLD, and I LIKE MAMIE.
History
