Obverse

The obverse of each coin features the image of Queen Elizabeth II in right-profile relief. As the longest-reigning monarch in the history of Great Britain, she has had four different images on Perth Mint coin releases. This design was released in 1988 and was created by Ian Rank-Broadly.

Reverse

On the reverse face of these coins, you will see the image of the U.S.S. Voyager. While the ship is shown in silver, the background is a colorful display of the universe. At the top of the coin, you will see the Star Trek logo. At the bottom of the coin, the ships name is proudly displayed.

History

The Perth Mint is the official bullion mint for Australia, but it also produces coinage for a variety of other countries. The mint originated in 1899 as an Australian branch of the Royal Mint with two other locations in Australia, both of which have since closed. The Perth Mint is also known for creating extremely pure gold products. For example, in 1957, the mint produced a proof plate that was .999999 fine. The plate was 13 Troy ounces.
