When you purchase one of the 2015-P Burnished ATB Saratoga 5 oz Silver Coins in this product listing, you receive your product with a capsule and a US Mint display box to house the coin. Each of the burnished coins in this series features a Certificate of Authenticity as well. Burnished ATB coins are produced by first polishing the blanks in a tumbling medium that puts the blanks together with a burnishing medium to create the unique matte visuals on the coin. Each one is struck in the coining press and immediately packaged afterward to protect the finish.
Obverse
The obverse face of 2015-P Burnished ATB Saratoga 5 oz Silver Coins features a left-profile portrait of President George Washington. The nations first elected President of the United States, Washington served as Commander-in-Chief of the Continental Army throughout the American Revolution and is considered the leading Founding Father of the nation. This portrait of Washington was created in 1932 by John Flanagan for the US quarter and is still featured on the circulating coin.
Reverse
On the reverse side, 2015-P Burnished ATB Saratoga 5 oz Silver Coins depict the moment in which General John Burgoyne of the British Army surrendered his forces to General Horatio Gates of the Continental Army to conclude the Battle of Saratoga.
History
Saratoga National Historical Park is located in Stillwater, New York, and was established to preserve the site of the Battle of Saratoga. The conflict that took place here marked the first significant victory of American forces in the war and lead to France directly supporting the American cause.
