{{/presale}}The Niue Hawksbill Turtle Silver Coins Series is a popular release among investors. Issued by the New Zealand Mint as of 2014, the series was previously available as the Fiji Taku dating back to 2010. Throughout its time as the Fiji Taku and Niue Hawksbill, the reverse image of the sea turtle species has remained the same. Today, you have the opportunity to get 2015 $5 New Zealand Niue Hawksbill Turtle 2 oz Silver Coins online from Provident Metals.
Highlights:
The hawksbill turtle species is so-named because of the shape of its mouth which resembles the sharpened beak of a bird of prey. While this is a signature feature of the species, it is not the most easily recognized physical characteristic of the turtles. Though you wont see the colorization on these silver coins, in the real world the hawksbill has overlapping plates on its shell that are brilliantly colored.
Obverse
Queen Elizabeth II is featured on the obverse side of 2015 New Zealand Niue Hawksbill Turtle 2 oz Silver Coins. Her Majesty is shown here in the fourth-generation design Ian Rank-Broadley created in 1998 for the Royal Mint of England. This bust of the Queen shows the Girls of Great Britain and Ireland Tiara on her head. Inscriptions on this side of the coin include Elizabeth II, Niue, Five Dollars, and 2015. The background field of the coins has a radial line design element.
Reverse
A hawksbill turtle is depicted on the reverse field of 2015 $5 New Zealand Niue Hawksbill Turtle 2 oz Silver Coins. The turtle is shown against a matte field that has circles reflecting bubbles in the design element to reflect the waters of the South Pacific Ocean. There is a sliver of design element on this side with a radial line background that has the word Turtle inscribed within. Other inscriptions read Fine Silver .999 2 oz.
History
Introduced by 2010 by the privately-owned New Zealand Mint, this coin series was initially known as the Fiji Taku. A political coup in that nation is believed to have been one of the reasons behind the series first changing obverse designs in 2013 to use the Fijian coat of arms instead of Queen Elizabeth IIs bust, and later switching to the Commonwealth nation of Niue.
