{{/presale}}Mexican Libertad 5 oz silver coins have been available from the Mexican Mint since 1996. The coin was introduced that year at the same time as the 2 oz silver option and has been produced in low numbers in most years since that time. Like other versions of the coin, you can find the Mexican Libertad 5 oz silver coin available with certifications from the NGC or PCGS. Today, you have the chance to get the 2015 Mexican Libertad 5 oz Silver Coin in near-perfect condition online at Provident Metals.
Highlights:
Mexican Libertad 5 oz Silver coins had a total mintage of 9,500 coins in 2015. That was up from the 2014 year and was part of a trend in increases across the board for Mexican Libertad production that continued into 2016. Of those 9,500 coins, only a select few have been certified and earned grades such as Mint State 69 from the PCGS or NGC.
Obverse
Winged Victory is featured on the obverse of all 2015 Mexican Libertad Silver Coins. She is shown here as her statue stands at the top of the Mexican Independence Victory Column. In the background field, the twin volcanic peaks of Popocatepetl and Iztaccihuatl dominate the horizon. Inscriptions include the weight, purity, metal content, and date mark of the coin, as well as the mint mark of the Mexican Mint.
Reverse
The Mexican Coat of Arms is displayed on the reverse of 2015 Mexican Libertad 5 oz Silver coins in 11 different versions. The large seal in the center is the modern version of the national coat of arms with a Mexican golden eagle and serpent battling on a cactus branch. Around the design, 10 historical versions of the same seal are on display.
History
From 1996 when the 5 oz silver coin was introduced in the Mexican Libertad Series until 2007, it was the largest coin in the collection. In 2008, the Mexican Mint introduced a 1 Kilo coin in the silver series that surpassed the size of the 5 oz coin.
Ordering
These 2015 Mexican Libertad 5 oz Silver Coins earned Mint State 69 grades from the PCGS. Coins in this condition have full, original mint luster and no more than two minor detracting flaws. Those flaws are limited in nature to minuscule contact marks and hairlines only. The flaws must also be located outside of the primary focal points of the coin for the MS 69 grade to be valid.
