{{/presale}}The America the Beautiful Series of silver coins from the United States Mint includes a total of 56 designs issued from 2010 to 2021. The collection focuses on the national parks, national forests, historic monuments, and important sites that make America unique. Each date mark in the series has five different designs released and the first from 2015 was the Homestead 5 oz Silver coin. Provident Metals currently offers the 2015 ATB Homestead 5 oz Silver Coin for purchase online with an NGC certification.
Highlights:
When you purchase the 2015 ATB Homestead 5 oz Silver Coin listed here, you receive a specimen with an MS69 certification from the NGC. Coins in this condition showcase full, original mint luster combined with a maximum of two minor detracting flaws. Acceptable flaws at this level include only minuscule contact marks or hairlines outside of the primary focal points of the coin.
These coins are bullion versions of the 2015 ATB Homestead Silver Coin, but did earn recognition from the NGC as DPL coins. This means the coins are deep proof-like with frosted elements and mirrored fields visible.
Obverse
President George Washington is featured in left-profile relief on the obverse of the 2015 ATB Homestead 5 oz Silver Coin. The portrait shown here was originally created in 1932 by John Flanagan and is actually based on a design from 1786 in which a bust of Washington was created as he sat for the session.
Reverse
A log cabin is depicted at the center of the design element on the reverse of the 2015 ATB Homestead 5 oz Silver Coin. In front of the log cabin, you will notice a water well with corn stalks flanking the design. These are meant to reflect all the essentials required for survival in the form of shelter, food, and water.
History
The Homestead Act of 1862 was passed to encourage Americans to begin moving westward and settling the lands west of the Mississippi River. The act authorized the government to transfer public lands to private individuals if the land was improved upon and cultivated over the course of five years.
