While these coins have no mint mark, the box is known to have originated from the San Francisco Mint courtesy of its San Francisco Mint strap enclosing the box.
Obverse
Walking Liberty is on the obverse of 2014 (S) American Eagle Silver Coins in this Monster Box. This left-profile bust of Liberty was created in 1916 by Adolph A. Weinman. It shows Liberty walking toward the sun on the horizon. The inscriptions on this side of the coin include LIBERTY, IN GOD WE TRUST, and 2014.
Reverse
The heraldic eagle of the United States is present on the reverse side of 2014 (S) American Eagle Coins in this Monster Box. This design from John Mercanti is the most recent iteration of the heraldic eagle. It features a front-facing bald eagle with the arrows of war, the olive branch of peace, and the US national shield. Inscriptions on this side read UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, IN GOD WE TRUST, E PLURIBUS UNUM, and 1 OZ. FINE SILVER ONE DOLLAR.
History
In 2014, the San Francisco Mint was in its fourth year of American Eagle production. After stopping in 1998, it was reenlisted to provide supplemental assistance to the West Point Mint starting in 2011. The 2014 release of American Eagle Silver Coins remains the second highest to date with 44,006,000 coins in total. Only the 2015 coin surpasses it in terms of mintage.
