{{/presale}}The Isle of Mans Manx Angel coins are popular due to their unique designs and precious metal content. This small island that lies between Great Britain and Northern Ireland offers these coins in both gold and silver. Today, you can purchase the 2014 Isle of Man Angel 1 oz Gold Coin from Provident Metals in near-perfect Proof 69 condition!
Highlights:
Get your 2014 Isle of Man Angel 1 oz Gold Coin from Provident Metals in a protective plastic slab from the Numismatic Guaranty Corporation, better known as NGC. The NGC granted each of these coins a near-perfect Proof 69 condition, meaning they will have only minor flaws when viewed under magnification. The NGC also designated these coins as UCAM, or Ultra Cameo, specimens. UCAM means that the coins have heavily frosted design fields and deeply-mirrored backgrounds, giving the ultimate contrast.
Obverse
Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II can be found on the obverse of each of these coins. In this particular image created by Ian Rank-Broadley, the Queen is shown at age 70. The image marks the fourth-generation depiction of the Queen on commonwealth coinage, which was used from 1998 to 2014. Engravings on this side of the coin are ELIZABETH II, ISLE OF MAN, and 2014.
Reverse
Archangel St. Michael is featured on the reverse face. In this new depiction, he is shown facing to the left slaying a dragon. In older versions, he faces to the right. St. Michael slays the dragon by plunging a spear through its neck in this image. The engravings on this side of the coins include FINE GOLD 1 OUNCE and ANGEL.
History
These coins are unique because they havent been given a specific face value, although they are considered legal tender. Also called Manx Angels, these coins will be given a value based on the precious metal content they contain, much like the South African Krugerrand or Mexican Libertad.
Manx Angel coins minted between 1984 and 2016 were produced by Pobjoy Mint, which was founded by Derek Pobjoy in 1965. The mint is located in the United Kingdom. Pobjoy Mint is credited with producing the first-ever titanium coin back in 1999, the Gibraltar Millennium 5 Coin.
