In 2013, the Royal Mint of England increased the metal content to 24-karat gold, but issued its 1 oz gold coin as a larger, thinner coin with a 38.61 MM diameter just for that year. These 2014 coins were the first to settle at the standardized diameter of 32.69 MM.
