Obverse
The obverse side of the 2013-W First Spouse Helen Taft Gold Coin features a striking front-facing portrait of the extraordinary First Lady Taft. Helen married William Howard Taft, her college sweetheart, on June 19, 1886. William would later become the 27th President of the United States. The inscriptions include HELEN TAFT, IN GOD WE TRUST, LIBERTY, 2013, 27TH, 1909-1913, and the W mint mark.
Reverse
The reverse side of the 2013-W US Mint Helen Taft 1/2 oz Gold Coin showcases a beautifully crafted depiction of cherry blossoms, inspired by Helen’s legacy of planting these iconic trees in Washington, D.C. In 1912, she planted the first two cherry blossom trees along the Potomac River, a cherished symbol of friendship between the United States and Japan. Inscriptions feature UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, E PLURIBUS UNUM, $10, 1/2 OZ., and .9999 FINE GOLD.
History
Helen Taft was the first to be officially recognized and referred to as “First Lady” during her time in the White House. The term was popularized in the press during her husband’s presidency. As First Lady, Helen Taft supported the suffrage movement and was the first First Lady to advocate for women’s right to vote openly.

When the subtotal of your purchase, including applicable discounts, is $199 or more, you receive free shipping for your entire order. In order to receive free shipping on purchases of $199 or more, you must live within the 50 US states. For orders less than $199, a $9.95 shipping fee applies. All products are discreetly packaged and shipped with full insurance included.
Most Provident orders are shipped within one (1) business day of your payment clearing. Payments made via PayPal clear instantly. Bitcoin payments clear instantly once the transaction is confirmed. Credit Card and bank wire payments process within 1 business day. ACH and paper check payments take 3-5 business days. Once payments are processed, products are released to fulfillment for packaging and shipping.
All orders of $199 or more that are eligible for free shipping are, by default, shipped via a carrier of our choice (USPS or UPS). Depending on the contents and size of your purchase, you may be able to upgrade to a specific carrier during checkout.
