{{/presale}}The Lunar Series II collection, released by the Perth Mint, follows in the successful footsteps of the Lunar Series I collection. This first collection ran for 12 years, which is the number of years on the Chinese Zodiac calendar. Each of the designs represented one of the animals on the Zodiac calendar. 2013 Proof Australian Colorized Lunar Snake 1 oz Silver Coin breathes life into a fresh new design for the Year of the Snake. The first Year of the Snake design was released in 2001. The 2013 design features a vibrantly colored snack, on a coin that contains 1 Troy oz of .999 pure silver.
Highlights:
The 2013 Proof Australian Colorized Lunar Snake 1 oz Silver Coin has a mirrored background with frosted imagery. The snake on the design is fully colorized in hues of yellow and black.
Those born in the Year of the Snake are said to be creative and also diligent in everything that they set out to do. These individuals are considered to be easily bored with the type of work that they do and they are known to hop between jobs. They do have a strong sense of confidence that helps them to make their way.
Obverse
The obverse of the 2013 Proof Australian Colorized Lunar Snake 1 oz Silver Coin features the 1998 right-profile portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. Her Majestys portrait is updated every few decades in order to best reflect her current age as the British monarch. Her Majesty has appeared on the obverse of coins across the commonwealth since 1952.
Reverse
The reverse design of the 2013 Proof Australian Colorized Lunar Snake 1 oz Silver Coin features the beautifully colorized design of the Year of the Snake. The lone snake is depicted hanging out on the branch of a tree. He is shown in shades of yellow and black. Engravings featured on the reverse design include Year of the Snake and the Chinese symbol for snake.
The Perth Mint is operated separately from the Royal Australian Mint, but is still able to release coins that have legal tender status in Australia.
