{{/presale}}The fourth coin issued in the 2013 ATB Series from the United States Mint depicts one of the most important moments in early American history. As the British sought to put America in its place and potentially retake the colonies in the War of 1812, the American victory at the Battle of Baltimore was instrumental in showing the British that the fledgling nation would not be so easily pushed around. Provident Metals currently offers the 2013-P Burnished ATB Fort McHenry 5 oz Silver Coin to you for purchase online.
Highlights:

The burnished versions of the ATB Series silver coins are produced using a special process that polishes the blanks for a matte finish before the designs are struck onto the coin during the coining process.
Obverse
The obverse field of the 2013-P Burnished ATB Fort McHenry 5 oz Silver Coin includes the portrait of President George Washington. This left-profile bust of the president was created in 1932 by John Flanagan for the circulation quarter and has featured on that coin every year since.
Reverse
On the reverse side of 2013-P Burnished ATB Fort McHenry 5 oz Silver Coins, Fort McHenry is depicted as it withstands a bombardment from the British Navy during the War of 1812. During the Battle of Baltimore, the United States Army was able to successfully defend Baltimore Harbor from within Fort McHenry and deter British intentions to invade through the harbor and control the waterways in the region. It was a significant victory for American forces.
History
The Battle of Baltimore was the setting for a poem that result in the creation of the Star Spangled Banner, the song that became the national anthem. Francis Scott Key was a prisoner on a British Navy vessel during the battle. As he watched overnight as the British continued bombarding the fort, he wrote of the success of the American forces in defending the fort as the American flag still flew above the fort in the morning.
