{{/presale}}The polar bear is one of the enduring symbols of the wilds of the Arctic Circle. These massive, hearty beasts live in near-solitude above the Arctic Circle in North America and Eurasia. The polar bear has featured prominently on several Royal Canadian Mint collections, including the 2013 release of a 1/4 oz gold coin. Right now, you can buy 2013 Canadian Polar Bear 1/4 oz Gold Coins online at Provident Metals.
Highlights:
When you purchase the 2013 Canadian Polar Bear 1/4 oz Gold Coin available in this listing, you receive a product that is in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. The coins are available to you individually inside of protective plastic flips.
Obverse
On the obverse face of the coin is the effigy of Queen Elizabeth II. Designed in 2003 by Susanna Blunt, this right-profile portrait of the Queen is just the second in Canadian currency history to be designed by a Canadian artist. It is also the first since the reign of her father, King George VI, to depict a monarch without a crown. Inscriptions on this face read Elizabeth II and 10 Dollars 2013.
Reverse
The reverse side of 2013 Canadian Polar Bear 1/4 oz Gold Coins includes the image of a lone polar bear marching across the polar ice caps in the Canadian Arctic. The isolated existence of these creatures is showcased in the design as the massive beast stands out amongst the vast expanse of polar ice caps. Inscriptions on this side of the coin include Canada, 9999, and Fine Gold 1/4 oz Or Pur.
History
Polar bears are the largest land carnivores in existence in the world today. A male polar bear can weigh as much as 1,543 lbs and is rivaled only by the size of the Kodiak bear. Though it is distantly related to the brown bear species, polar bears have adapted many physical traits that help it survive in the Arctic Circle. For example, its larger padded paws help it swim through the water with ease as it hunts on both land and in the ocean.
Ordering
The Royal Canadian Mint has previously issued Canadian Polar Bear 1/4 oz Gold Coins with strict mintage limits, sometimes as low as 2,000 coins. Act fast and you can capture this stunning gold bullion piece for yourself.
