First introduced in 1979, the Canadian Gold Maple Leaf Coin is one of the longest-standing gold bullion coins for private buyers. By 2014, the program featured six sizes, with the 1/20 oz option added in 1993. The 2013 issue celebrates the 20th anniversary of the 1/20 oz Gold Maple Leaf. Today, Provident Metals offers 2013 Canadian Maple Leaf 1/20 oz Gold Coins.

Highlights:

  • Comes with a protective plastic flip!
  • 20th release of 1/20 oz Gold Maple Leafs!
  • Contains 1/20 troy oz of .9999 pure gold.
  • The face value of $1 (CAD) is fully backed by the Canadian government.
  • On the obverse is Queen Elizabeth II.
  • The reverse features the sugar maple leaf.

Each 2013 Canadian Maple Leaf 1/20 oz Gold Coin from Provident Metals arrives in a protective plastic flip. The 1/20 oz coin joined the series in 1993, following the original 1 oz release in 1979, the 1/4 oz and 1/10 oz releases in 1982, and the 1/2 oz release in 1986.

Obverse

On the obverse side of the 2013 Canadian Maple Leaf Gold Coin, youll see Queen Elizabeth II. This right-facing portrait was created by Susanna Blunt and became the longest-running design of Her Majesty on Canadian coins. It is notable for showing the Queen without a crown, a style used for nearly 20 years. The inscriptions here include ELIZABETH II, 1 DOLLAR, and 2013.

Reverse

The reverse side of the 2013 Maple Leaf 1/20 oz Gold Coin highlights the sugar maple leaf. This design, created in 1979 by Walter Ott, has appeared on all Gold Maple Leaf coins since the series began that same year. Inscriptions here include CANADA, 9999, FINE GOLD, and 1/20 OZ OR PUR.

History

The maple leaf is a powerful emblem of Canada. It has been featured on the national flag since 1965 and has come to represent unity, cultural diversity, and the countrys natural beauty. Over time, this simple leaf has become a widely recognized symbol of Canadas heritage and peaceful character.
