{{/presale}} {{#promotion_on}}The Perth Mints Lunar Series II program is among the most well-known silver bullion collections produced in the modern era. Issued across a twelve-year cycle, each coin in the series features a different animal from the Chinese Zodiac and contains one ounce of .999 fine silver. These coins offer investors and collectors a blend of precious metal content and cultural symbolism tied to the zodiac calendar. Right now, 2013 Australian Lunar Snake Lion Privy 1 oz Silver Coins are available from Provident Metals.
Highlights:
Each of the 2013 Australian Lunar Snake Lion Privy 1 oz Silver Coins is packaged in an individual protective capsule. While the Perth Mint originally authorized a maximum mintage of 100,000 coins for this release, demand ultimately resulted in a much smaller total. When the sales period ended, the final recorded mintage stood at 56,241 coins.
Obverse
On the obverse of the 2013 Australian Lunar Snake Lion Privy Silver Coin is the effigy of Queen Elizabeth II. This image was designed by Ian Rank-Broadley and serves as the fourth-generation portrait used on many Commonwealth coin issues. The design presents a right-profile image of the Queen wearing the Girls of Great Britain and Ireland Tiara, a well-known feature in this widely used royal portrait. The inscriptions include ELIZABETH II, AUSTRALIA, 1 OZ 999 SILVER, 2013, and 1 DOLLAR.
Reverse
The reverse of the 2013 Australian Lunar Snake Lion Privy 1 oz Silver Coin features a detailed depiction of a coiled snake. The engraving highlights the curves of the serpents body and the texture of its scales, presenting a natural and balanced composition. Subtle background elements help frame the design while keeping the snake as the central focus of the coin. The inscriptions read YEAR OF THE SNAKE, the P mint mark, and the Chinese symbol for the snake.
History
In the Chinese Zodiac calendar, 2013 marked the Year of the Snake, beginning in February of that year. The snake is traditionally connected with traits such as wisdom, intuition, and patience. People born under this zodiac sign are often thought to be reflective and observant, approaching decisions carefully and thoughtfully. As the sixth animal in the zodiac cycle, the snake is also commonly associated with renewal and transformation.
