{{/presale}}No lunar-themed program has eclipsed the beauty and popularity of Perth Mints lunar collections. Started in 1996 with the Lunar Series I program, as of 2021 the mint is on its third version of the popular 12-year cycle of coin releases. Today, you have the opportunity to get 2013 Proof Australian Lunar Snake 1/4 oz Gold Coins in perfect condition online from Provident Metals.
Highlights:
The Lunar Series II program from Perth Mint launched in 2008 and followed the same 12-year cycle of its predecessor, the Lunar Series I program. Lunar Series II coins started in 2008 with the Year of the Rat and concluded in 2019 with the Year of the Pig. Throughout the cycle, the mint offered BU coins in gold and silver, as well as limited mintages of proof coins in just a few select weights.
Obverse
On the obverse of 2013 Proof Australian Lunar Snake 1/4 oz Gold Coins is an effigy of Queen Elizabeth II. Her Majesty is Englands longest-reigning monarch and has graced the coins of both England and the Commonwealth nations since 1952. This popular design from Ian Rank-Broadley was created in 1998 and features the Queen with the Girls of Great Britain and Ireland Tiara. Inscriptions on this field include ELIZABETH II, AUSTRALIA, 1/4 OZ 9999 GOLD, 2013, and 25 DOLLARS.
Reverse
The reverse side of the 2013 Proof Australian Lunar Snake Gold Coin features an image of a snake. This design sets the snake on the ground, coiled up slightly near some grass in the foreground and bamboo stalks in the background. The inscriptions on this side read YEAR OF THE SNAKE and a P mint mark from Perth mint. The Chinese symbol for a snake is also included on this face of the coin.
History
The Year of the Snake comes sixth in the 12-year cycle of the Zodiac. Those born under its sign are considered intelligent, analytical, and independent, yet graceful and charming at the same time.
