Penguins have always been known as majestic and well-loved creatures, and they are usually found in the Southern Hemisphere. These animals can walk on land and swim in the water. The 2013 coin is a unique piece with a limited mintage of 2,500 coins. When purchasing from Provident Metals, you will receive a Certificate of Authenticity.
History
Three coins make up the Wildlife Conservation series: the Humpback Whale, the Polar Bear, and the Penguin. The designs on these coins use a unique prism technique, meaning all three of these coins show the animals in a colorized state. All three of these animal species are known to be endangered, especially as their living environment has been greatly disturbed. The Wildlife Conservation series helps to bring awareness to all endangered species around the world.
Obverse
The obverse of the 2013 $5 Proof Cook Islands Wildlife Conservation Penguin Prism Silver Coin shows the profile portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. This effigy of the Queen was originally created by Raphael Maklouf. On the obverse of the 2013 coin, the coins value is listed as well as two inscriptions: ELIZABETH II and COOK ISLANDS.
Reverse
The reverse of the 2013 $5 Proof Cook Islands Wildlife Conservation Penguin Prism Silver Coin has an image of an adult penguin with its baby. The adult is created using multi-color prismatic technology, while the baby remains in greyscale and is minted in relief. This makes the baby penguin blend in with the background. The reverse of this coin gives a contrasting visual effect all viewers can enjoy. Two inscriptions are shown above the penguins: WILDLIFE CONSERVATION and PROTECTING OUR NATURAL HERITAGE FOR TOMORROW.
