The Canadian Maple Leaf bullion series is one of the most diverse and expansive in the world. Canadian Maple Leaf bullion debuted in 1979 as a gold bullion series, but expanded over time to include silver, platinum, and palladium bullion collections. The standard-bearer of the series remains the 1 oz gold coin in the collection. Provident Metals currently has 2013 Canadian Maple Leaf 1 oz Gold Coins available to you for purchase online.

Obverse

Queen Elizabeth II is found on the obverse side of 2013 Canadian Maple Leaf 1 oz Gold Coins. This right-profile portrait of Her Majesty was created in 2003 by Susanna Blunt and is the fourth-generation effigy of the Queen to feature on Canadian coins. Susanna Blunt is just the second Canadian artist to create a monarchs portrait for use on Canadian coins. In the design, the Queen is shown without a crown for the first time on a Canadian coin during her reign. Inscriptions include Elizabeth II and 50 Dollars 2020.

Reverse

The sugar maple leaf is featured in the reverse design of the 2013 Canadian Maple Leaf Gold Coin. Created in 1979 by Walter Ott, this image has appeared on the silver, platinum, and palladium versions of the coin. The 2013 coin was the first to feature the maple leaf security privy. This privy mark is found on this side of the coin includes the 13 digits from the date mark within the very center of the privy, but the digits are only visible under magnification. Inscriptions on this face of the coin read Canada, 9999, Fine Gold, and 1 oz Or Pur.

History

From 1979 to November 1982, the Canadian Maple Leaf was available only as a 1 oz gold coin with .999 pure gold content. In November 1982, 1/4 oz and 1/10 oz coins were introduced and the coins purity was increased to .9999 pure gold. In 1986, a 1/2 oz gold coin was introduced. In 1993, the 1/20 oz gold coin was introduced. The latest introduction was the 1 Gram gold coin in 2014.
