{{/presale}}In 2012, the United States Mint released a reverse proof version of the American Eagle 1 oz Silver Coin for the second year in a row after having only introduced the first such American Eagle Silver Coin back in 2006. While the initial release in 2006 was to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the series, this coin was released as part of a celebratory set from the San Francisco Mint. Right now, you can buy 2012-S American Eagle 1 oz Silver Reverse Proof Coins in perfect condition online at Provident Metals.
Highlights:
2012-S American Eagle 1 oz Silver Reverse Proof Coins in this product listing at Provident Metals earned perfect PF70 certifications from the NGC. Coins in this condition exhibit full, original mint luster and present with no detracting flaws of any kind on the design elements or background fields.
Obverse
Walking Liberty is the primary design feature on the obverse of all 2012-S American Eagle 1 oz Silver Reverse Proof Coins. Designed by Adolph A. Weinman in 1916, Walking Liberty is a left-profile relief of Liberty as she walks toward the sun on the horizon. She wears the American flag over her shoulders in the design and carries the branches of oak and laurel on the obverse face of the coin.
Reverse
The heraldic eagle of the United States is the oldest US coin design that is still in use today. While Liberty has long featured on US coins, the heraldic eagle on the reverse of 2012-S American Eagle 1 oz Silver coins is little changed from the original image and those that have been modified over the last two centuries.
History
In 2012, the United States Mint celebrated the 75th anniversary of its modern San Francisco Mint location with the release of a limited-edition set at the mint. This included a standard 2012-S Proof American Eagle Silver Coin and these 2012-S American Eagle 1 oz Silver Reverse Proof coins. The reverse proof coin has frosted background fields with mirrored design elements.
