{{/presale}}Introducing the Australian Koala Silver Series, a beloved coin program from the prestigious Perth Mint. Since its launch in 2007, this collection has gained immense popularity among collectors. Originally offering 1 oz silver coins, the mint swiftly expanded its range to include 1/2 oz, 10 oz, and 1-kilo weights the following year. Although the 1/2 oz and 10 oz silver coins were suspended in 2016, the annual release continues to captivate enthusiasts. Get your hands on the remarkable 2012 Australian Koala 10 oz Silver Coins, available now at Provident Metals.
Highlights:
Each 2012 Australian Koala 10 oz Silver Coin is carefully packaged in protective capsules, ensuring its condition upon arrival. These coins contain 10 Troy oz and are struck from .999 pure silver. With a face value of $10 (AUD), they carry the official backing of the Australian federal government.
Obverse
The obverse side of these magnificent coins showcases the exquisite effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, created by Ian Rank-Broadley in 1998. This right-profile portrait, featured in the fourth-generation design, adds a touch of regality to each coin. Inscriptions include ELIZABETH II, AUSTRALIA, and 10 DOLLARS.
Reverse
On the reverse, you’ll find a delightful image of a koala resting on a tree branch. The unique design changes annually, making each edition a treasure. With koalas known for their leisurely sleep habits, spending up to 18-20 hours a day dozing, this coin design perfectly captures the essence of these adorable Australian creatures. Inscriptions include 2012, 10 OZ, 999 SILVER, and AUSTRALIAN KOALA.
History
Since 1899, the Perth Mint has held a special place in Australia’s numismatic history. As the last remaining colonial branch of the UK’s Royal Mint in the country, it continues to operate under the ownership and control of the state government of Western Australia. While the Sydney Mint and Melbourne Mint ceased operations, the Perth Mint remains a symbol of heritage and craftsmanship.
