History
When South Africa released the Gold Krugerrand gold coin in 1967, it didnt take long for other countries to follow suit. Annual bullion releases became the talk of the town, with Britain, Canada, Mexico, the United States, and China all establishing their own gold bullion coin programs. China launched their Panda series in 1982 in 1 oz, 1/2 oz, 1/4 oz, and 1/10 oz weights. They added the 1/20 oz version the following year. The series is notable for featuring a brand-new Panda design each yearwith the exception of 2001-2002, which used the same design.
