Today, the British Britannia Silver Coin is one of the most popular silver coins in the world. Part of that popularity stems from its familiar, statics depictions of Queen Elizabeth II and Britannia. However, there was a time when this series offered new reverse designs each year. Today, 2011 British Britannia 1 oz Silver Coins are available to you for purchase online from Provident Metals.

Highlights:

  • Arrives with an individual protective flip!
  • 15th year of release in the British Britannia Silver Series!
  • Last date with a changing Britannia design!
  • Contains 1 Troy oz of actual silver content.
  • The face value of 2 Pound sterling (GBP) is backed by Britain.
  • On the obverse is Queen Elizabeth II.
  • The reverse features a Britannia design.

Between 1998 and 2012, the Royal Mint issued the British Britannia Silver Coins with changing reverse designs. Odd-numbered years featured effigies of Britannia that alternated each year without repeating. Even-numbered years offered depictions of a standing Britannia figure that changed each year, with Philip Nathans Britannia effigy appearing several times.

Obverse

On the obverse side of 2011 Britannia 1 oz Silver Coins, you will find a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. Her Majesty is shown here in right-profile relief in a 1998 design from Ian Rank-Broadley. Inscriptions read ELIZABETH II, D.G. REG FID DEF, and 2 POUNDS.

Reverse

The reverse face of the 2011 British Britannia Silver Coin comes with a portrait of Britannia. This design from David Mach shows Britannia in a seated position in right-profile relief. Her left hand clutches an upright trident as her right hand rests on a shield. The Union Jack fills the background field. Inscriptions include BRITANNIA, ONE OUNCE FINE SILVER, and 2011.

History

The 2011 release marked the last coin in the series with an alternating image of Britannia. The 2012 design used Philip Nathans bust of Britannia, and from 2013 onward, the series would use that same design each year.
