{{/presale}}Olympic National Park is located on the Olympic Peninsula in the US state of Washington and is one of the most ecologically diverse parks in the United States of America. The natural splendor of this park has been recognized and protected for over 100 years and features in the ATB design for the state of Washington. Today, you have the chance to purchase a 2011 ATB Olympic 5 oz Silver Coin in perfect condition online at Provident Metals.
Highlights:
Olympic National Park has a long history as a federally protected land that dates back to 1909 and the administration of President Theodore Roosevelt, considered the leader in the effort to protect Americas natural wonders. He gave the park its original designation as Mount Olympus National Monument in March 1909. In 1938, Congress and his cousin, President Franklin D. Roosevelt, redesignated the monument as a national park. In 1986, UNESCO designated the park an International Biosphere Reserve and in 1981 it was listed as a World Heritage Site.
Obverse
President George Washington is featured on the obverse field of 2011 ATB Olympic 5 oz Silver Coins. This left-profile bust of Washington was created in 1932 by John Flanagan and is based on a bust of Washington first sculpted in 1786. This is the same design that features on the US quarter.
Reverse
A Roosevelt elk, also known by the name Olympic elk, is shown in the foreground of the reverse design on 2011 ATB Olympic 5 oz Silver Coins. This elk, which is the largest of the four remaining subspecies of elk in North America, is shown drinking from the Hoh River as the peak of Mount Olympus looms in the distance.
History
Olympic National Park protects a vast array of ecological systems on the Olympic Peninsula. Contained within the park are four distinct systems that include the Pacific coastline, mountainous alpine areas, a temperate rainforest, and the dry, dense forests of the eastern interior.
Ordering
2011 ATB Olympic 5 oz Silver Coins in this listing have Mint State 69 certifications. Coins in this condition have full, original mint luster and no more than two minor detracting flaws. Those flaws are limited to minuscule contact marks or hairlines. The DMPL designation indicates these are bullion coins with proof-like visuals.
