{{/presale}} {{#promotion_on}}The Royal Canadian Mint first released the Canadian Silver Maple Leaf Coin in 1988, becoming the first mint to issue a .9999 fine silver coin in large quantities. Its release came after the Gold Maple Leaf and shared a similar design, including the image of the British monarch on the front and the maple leaf on the back. Right now, Provident Metals has the 2011 Canadian Maple Leaf 1 oz Silver Coin available for purchase.
Highlights:
Your 2011 Canadian Maple Leaf 1 oz Silver Coins are available in plastic flips. If you order enough, they may be shipped in tubes of 25 coins, depending on stock.
Obverse
The obverse side of the 2011 Canadian Maple Leaf Silver Coin includes a profile of Queen Elizabeth II facing to the right. This portrait was created by Canadian artist Susanna Blunt in 2003. Its the fourth official likeness of the Queen used on Canadian coins and one of the few not to show her wearing a crown. Blunt is also one of the rare Canadian artists chosen to create a royal effigy. The inscriptions here read ELIZABETH II, 5 DOLLARS, and 2011.
Reverse
On the reverse of 2011 Maple Leaf 1 oz Silver Coins, youll find a detailed image of the sugar maple leaf. This design was created by Walter Ott and first appeared on Canadian gold coins in 1979. The maple leaf has a long-standing connection to Canadian pride, strengthened in 1867 by the patriotic tune The Maple Leaf Forever, written by Alexander Muir. The inscriptions here include CANADA, 9999, FINE SILVER, and 1 OZ ARGENT PUR.
History
In 1965, Canada officially adopted the red maple leaf as its national symbol with the creation of its current flag. This decision followed a nationwide debate where many designs were submitted and reviewed. The result was a simple flag showing a single red maple leaf with 11 points on a white square, flanked by red barsan image that has since become a familiar part of Canadas identity.
