The Proof American Eagle Platinum Coins have a fresh design on the reverse side each year and, as of 2018, also have a new design of Liberty on the obverse face of the coins. Provident Metals has the 2010-W Proof American Eagle 1 oz Platinum Coin available now for purchase in perfect condition.
Highlights:
The 2010 Proof American Eagle Platinum Coin was released during the Preamble to the Constitution design series by the United States Mint. To date, this is the longest-running design series in the Proof American Eagle Platinum series and featured six distinctive designs representing the core concepts of American democracy. The designs used in this series were inspired by narratives by Chief Justice of the United States Supreme Court, John Roberts.
Obverse
On the obverse of 2010-W Proof American Eagle 1 oz Platinum Coins is the image of the Statue of Liberty. This design features in all years on the bullion version of the coins and is known as Liberty gazing into the future. John Mercanti created this image for the series in 1997 and used the face of the Statue of Liberty as his inspiration.
Reverse
The reverse face of 2010 Proof American Eagle Platinum Coins bears the design To Establish Justice. The second release in the Preamble to the Constitution series, this image includes a blindfolded female personification of Justice with a scales raised in her right hand and a branch of laurel in her left. Justice is depicted blindfolded to symbolize the impartiality of justice in the legal system.
History
Proof American Eagle 1 oz Platinum coins were introduced in 1997 and are the only coins in the program that have been issued every year since that time. Bullion American Eagle 1 oz Platinum coins were produced from 1997 to 2008, suspended from 2009 to 2013, struck in 2014, and reintroduced in 2016.
